Informatics Transfer Course Policy

  1. Programs
  2. Informatics
  3. Admissions
  4. Informatics Transfer Course Policy

The Informatics admissions committee will accept non-UW courses that the UW considers equivalent to the prerequisite courses as outlined in the UW Equivalency Guide or if transfer credit is issued and appears on the student’s official UW Transcript.

If the UW has assigned transfer credit that is not equivalent to a prerequisite course (UW 1xx, STAT 1xx or CSE 1xx, etc.), the course will not be accepted in fulfillment of a prerequisite course.

Students who believe the course they took is equivalent to a prerequisite course should follow the appeal procedure outlined on the Office of Admissions website.

Review of coursework that does not have an established equivalency will occur at the time of application to the program.

The Informatics program will not be able to review coursework for prerequisite equivalencies prior to application. Prospective students will need to work with an advisor at their school to identify courses that meet the Prerequisite Course Core Competencies outlined below.

Prerequisite Course Core Competencies
