There are three paths to admission to the Informatics program:
Current UW students
The Informatics program conducts two application periods for new students each year. For 2019-20, students have an April 8, 2019, deadline to apply to begin the program in autumn 2019, and a Sept. 12, 2019, deadline to apply for admission to join the program in spring 2020. The next application period for Informatics will open in mid-February. In order to be eligible to apply, you must complete the prerequisite courses by the end of winter quarter 2019. If you are not currently enrolled at the University of Washington at the Seattle campus, but are planning to transfer in for autumn quarter, you are required to submit a transfer application to the UW by the Feb. 15 application deadline. You must also apply separately to the Informatics program to be considered for admission. The next application period for Informatics will be to start the program in Autumn 2019. It will open in mid-February and have an application deadline of April 8. In order to be eligible to apply, you must complete the prerequisite courses by the end of winter quarter 2019. Freshman direct admission
Direct admission gives high school students with a strong interest in studying Informatics the chance to apply to the iSchool while filling out their UW application. Simply selecting “Informatics” as the first-choice major on the UW application will ensure automatic consideration for direct admission. Direct admission is for autumn quarter only.
