Application Deadlines

For the 2026-27 cohort, there are two admissions cycles. The application opens in May.

June 17, 2026: Decision in mid-July

July 15, 2026: Decision in mid-August

Minimum Admissions Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with GPA of 3.0 or higher. The UW Graduate School has a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0. Any applicant with a GPA below 3.0 is welcome to apply to the AI certificate program. They will need to demonstrate professional achievements, analytical and intellectual maturity, and overall readiness for graduate education through their application.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in any organization (for-profit, not-for-profit or government). This might be (but is not limited to): product management, program management, product ownership, director-level roles, business management, business analyst roles, IT support, operations management, dev ops, UX design, interaction design, software development, marketing, HR management, consulting, security analysts.
  • English Proficiency must meet the requirements outlined in Graduate School policy 3.2. Test scores must meet the Recommended Score level. 
  • During the application submission, you will be asked to acknowledge the computing requirements for the program.

  • 1 letter of recommendation from someone who has knowledge with your professional experiences
  • Unofficial transcripts for your previously earned degree(s).
  • Responses to the following essay prompts. Each response should be no more than 250 words. This application is the beginning of a relationship with the UW Information School. We trust, therefore, that all written responses are written by you, and not by other people or generative AI. Your writing is a reflection of your professional identity and integrity, and so we want to hear from you, not others.
    • Considering the learning outcomes of the AI for Organizations certificate, what do you hope to learn and how do you hope to apply your new knowledge and skills to your future goals?
    • What organizational, analytical, and interdisciplinary decision-making skills do you bring?
    • This certificate program is built on a cohort model, where everyone admitted takes classes together, in sequence, and learns together across the year. What skills, mindsets and strengths will you bring to enrich interactions and collaborations with your cohort?

Application Fee and Fee Waiver

The application fee is $90 USD, payable online by debit or credit card. Learn more about the Application Fee Waiver Policy on this page.

All application materials are submitted online or electronically. Please do not mail paper application materials to the Information School.
