HERE to THERE

At large events, trying to describe a booth location to someone is frustrating and tiring. THERE is our solution - an indoor wayfinding mobile and desktop application for event attendees and planners respectively. THERE easily gets attendees from point A to point B so they can fully enjoy their experience without worrying about getting lost at large events. Creating booth locations online makes event planning simple. Building on HERE Technologies, we navigate complicated indoor spaces for you - to help you get from HERE to THERE.

Hidden Gem

Hidden Gem is a resource for people looking to discover new places and activities in the Pacific Northwest. Instead of having the same list of 'touristy' activities pop up from the current databases, people can view and contribute to a growing list of unique and interesting experiences. Our resource will allow users to continuously awe themselves and create a closer connection between them and their city. Hidden Gem brings the lesser-known places to life and provides people with the information they need to plan their next adventure.

I Found It Online! A User Needs Assessment and Website Implementation Study

Springfield Public Library (OR) is in need of a new website that is both optimized for modern technology and accessible for disabled users. This project involved a user needs assessment survey to identify changes the community wants to make as well as a comparison of potential website platforms the library could use. This project serves as the foundation to the library's process of designing a new website, and it began the process of making the library's website more accessible and user-friendly.

IHME Disease Profiles

The Disease Profiles project is sponsored by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), a research center that provides publicly accessible population health data used to evaluate current policies and strategies. Currently, users of the existing tools on the IHME website have difficulty viewing the impact of a specific disease. Our web page provides snapshots of the impact of over 300 diseases in 195 different countries. This tool will assist health policy makers, advocates, non-governmental organizations, and members of the general public in making informed decisions about public health in regards to funding, policy, and education.

Making Connections Alumni Network

Making Connections at the UW Women's Center serves Seattle high-school students with tutoring, mentoring and college preparation. There are hundreds of alumni, the majority of whom are first-generation college women pursuing careers in STEM fields. Although alumni want to network with each other, Making Connections does not have an efficient system to do this. Our web application provides users with a detailed alumni directory and community platform that allow users to network and share resources about job & internship opportunities, scholarships and more. Facilitating alumni networking will help students access resources & feel like part of the Making Connections community.

Mito

Mito, derived from Latin for “giving with ease”, provides a social platform that lets users purchase products online to send to each other without exchanging physical addresses. Our solution offers a seamless process for buying goods for recipients while protecting users’ address information at all cost. A transaction on Mito no longer requires users to share their private address with one another.

NextBite

Farmers markets often have produce at the end of the day that cannot be sold, either due to visual imperfections or overproduction, which contributes to food waste. Volunteers from non-profit organizations rescue food from farmers markets, but this process is inconsistent due to ineffective communication between volunteers and vendors. NextBite is a mobile application that streamlines the donation process by allowing vendors to create donation listings to inform volunteers about the availability of surplus food. Volunteers can then rescue and redistribute these donations to non-profit organizations in the Seattle area.

Pinion

Pinion is a mobile application that gives people a place where they can share their beliefs on civic issues, learn more about them, and see how their elected officials vote. Users can voice their opinions on local topics like the Seattle Jobs Tax or federal ones like gun control. They can also see how their community and elected officials voted to make sure they're acting in the best interests of the people. Pinion will clearly show if there's a gap between the people and their elected officials.

PlaceR

Imagine the inability to compete in the modern retail market place. It can be prohibitively expensive for small businesses to keep up with large companies like Amazon. Placer levels the playing field. We provide the augmented reality technology to independent furniture manufacturers, so they can give their customers an immersive shopping experience similar to that found in store. By providing a universal accessible platform, we will help a diverse segment of the industry thrive, that would otherwise get left behind. We plan to compliment the independent manufacturers’ business model and allow their creativity to lead to new innovations.
