Informatics Prerequisites

  1. Programs
  2. Informatics
  3. Admissions
  4. Prerequisite Classes

In order to be considered for admission, applicants who are current UW students must complete all four prerequisite courses. The courses must be completed by the end of the quarter before submitting your application to the Informatics program.

Students applying to transfer to the UW and apply to Informatics are not required to complete INFO 200 before applying. This course will be completed once you are an Informatics student. To ensure you are planning your transfer courses, use the UW Equivalency Guide for Washington state schools or our list of pre-approved transfer courses for schools outside of Washington.

Prospective students who have completed all listed prerequisites may focus on completing their general education requirements and preparing for an alternative major.

Effective autumn 2026: Beginning with applications for entry in autumn 2026 (application due April 5), recent transfer students will no longer have a one-quarter grace period for meeting the INFO 200 requirement.
