Who this track is for
The Early-Career track is ideal for recent graduates, career changers or early professionals looking to build a strong foundation in information management. Students in this track typically aim to:
- Gain information management and leadership skills through project-based learning culminating in an industry-sponsored Capstone project
- Explore multiple specialization areas and learning opportunities through elective coursework to customize the depth and breadth of skill attainment
- Prepare for future leadership or strategic roles
Structure and requirements
This 65-credit track provides a comprehensive foundation in information management while offering significant flexibility to tailor learning to your goals. Key elements include:
- Core courses: Four foundational courses in essential information management skills
- Specializations: Option to choose up to two specializations or customize with electives; the majority of your credits are allocated to electives, offering you an unparalleled opportunity to customize your degree to your goals and interests
- Applied experiences: One or more internships or applied experiences, plus an industry-sponsored Capstone synthesizing skills and demonstrating impact to potential employers
Typical pathway through the program
Students start with core courses, then integrate specializations and applied experiences, culminating in the Capstone. Full-time students can complete the program in as few as six terms. Online students have flexibility to study part-time.

Specializations
Students may choose up to two areas of specialization, deepening expertise in areas including Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Information Architecture, Program/Product Management & Consulting, and User Experience.
In addition to completing up to two formal specializations, students may take courses across different specialization areas, allowing for a more customized and interdisciplinary learning experience.
