MSIM Student Success & Academic Advisor
The MSIM Student Success & Academic Advisor will provide academic advising and student support coaching for the Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) program. The MSIM Student Success & Academic Advisor is one of three primary advisors to the Information School’s MSIM degree for students in our online and in-person modalities, all reporting to the Lead Academic Advisor. This position collaborates with the MSIM Program Team composed of the Program Chair, MSIM Assistant Director, and Program Coordinator to ensure student and program success.
Additionally, this position coordinates with other iSchool program staff to support the Information School's joint student-facing activities. This position is expected to participate in iSchool communities of practice related to student support and advising to share best practices across our five degree programs. The MSIM Student Success & Academic Advisor will work closely with faculty, staff, students, as well as prospective students, alumni and employers.
Temporary Grants & Contracts Specialist
The Information School is seeking a temporary Grants & Contracts Specialist position to support our Research unit. We expect this position to be six months in duration.
Researchers in the Information School (iSchool) work to solve information problems from many disciplinary perspectives with funding from many different sponsors. The range and complexity of the research enterprise in the school requires high-quality, professional grants management support for novice and experienced researchers; continual monitoring, analysis, and improvement of procedures, policies, and resources for the conduct of research in the iSchool; and regular engagement with professionals in other units in the iSchool and UW.
The Grants and Contracts Specialist is responsible for the effective, timely, and compliant analysis and administration of research grants and contracts. They work with principal investigators, research partners, sponsors, and University research support offices to manage the full lifecycle of grants and contracts.
The Grants and Contracts Specialist works independently to design, develop, manage, and ensure timely submission of complex grant and contract proposals. They ensure effective receipt, budgeting, and expenditure of awards in compliance with federal, state, funding agency, and UW regulations, policies and procedures. In collaboration with the Director of Research Administration, they are responsible for pre- and post-award procedures, record keeping, analysis, monitoring and reporting systems.
Senior HR Assistant for Staff HR
Under the general supervision of the Associate Director for Staff Employment & Compensation, the Senior HR Assistant provides specialized technical and human resources administrative support to the Information School’s Staff Human Resources department with confidential staff personnel functions for approximately 120 staff and student employees. This position supports the recruitment, hiring, HR onboarding, and payroll processes for classified and professional staff positions; and manages the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for student assistant appointments. Success in this role requires strong customer service, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple workstreams happening simultaneously.
The Staff HR department is responsible for the successful hiring, onboarding, and development of approximately 100 staff positions and 40 student assistant positions. The Staff HR team collaborates and engages with the other iSchool human resources team – Faculty HR and Academics HR – as part of the overall iSchool Human Resources Network.
