  • Curriculum: 4 core courses, 1 specialization, optional applied experiences
  • Learning format: Residential or online
  • Time to degree: 1 year if enrolled full time or 2 years part time

Who this track is for

The Mid-Career track is designed for professionals with five or more years of relevant experience who want to:

  • Advance into leadership or management roles
  • Pivot into a new domain within information management
  • Deepen expertise through one or more targeted specializations

Structure and requirements

This 36-credit track builds on existing professional experience while providing focused learning. Key elements include:

  • Core courses: Four foundational courses to reinforce essential information management skills and frameworks
  • Specializations: Option to complete one specialization or select electives to strengthen skills in leadership, strategy or technical areas; additional specializations possible with added credits
  • Applied experiences: Optional applied projects as needed to support career goals

Typical pathway through the program

Coursework is sequenced with a mix of core courses and electives to complete specializations or customize your learning. The track offers flexible full- and part-time options to support your preferred pace and can be completed in as little as one year of full-time study.

Graduates of the Mid-Career track are prepared for strategic, senior-level roles, such as:

  • Data System Manager 
  • Director of Technology Operations
  • Privacy Engineer
  • Product Owner
  • Senior Business Analyst
  • Senior Information Technology Product Manager
  • Senior UX Researcher

Specializations

Most Mid-Career students complete one specialization, or take elective classes across specialization areas based on interests and goals. Specializations offering online and evening availability include Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, Data Science or Program/Product Management & Consulting. Information Architecture and User Experience coursework and specializations are available for residential Mid-Career students who are able to attend daytime in-person classes.
