Information School staff are here to provide you with quality support throughout your UW experience as you explore, develop and pursue opportunities that align with your life and career goals. Advising hours and scheduling instructions are listed below for academic and career advisors.
Student Success & Academic Advising
Consult a student success and academic advisor for topics such as:
- Academic guidance such as degree planning, course registration and suggestions, Capstone and internships.
- Policies, procedures and forms at the UW, Graduate School, Information School or degree program level.
- Time-management, reading and general student support.
- Navigating other UW offices/services (i.e., Financial Aid, International Programs, etc.)

Career Advising
All MSIM students and recent graduates (within 3 years of graduation) have access to the Information School’s Career Services team. Meet with them early and often to ensure you have the best career outcome. Career Services support includes:
- Finding internship and career opportunities, employer contact info and advice
- Resume and cover letter reviews
- Preparing for job interviews: mock interviews, day-of interview tips, salary negotiation, etc.

Mental Health Counseling
Information School students have access to mental health support from an on-staff mental health professional. The counselor can help you find referrals to short- and long-term therapy, provide support through a variety of mental health issues, both virtually and in-person, and give information about other resources. *Advisors and other Student Services staff at the Information School are "Campus Security Authorities" under the Clery Act and must report some criminal actions and hate-related crimes to UWPD when disclosed. Issues involving citizenship or immigration status are not reported.
