The school has an excellent network infrastructure. All of our spaces (Mary Gates Hall, Bloedel Hall, UW Tower) include extensive wiring in each office for network connectivity. All of our spaces have also been upgraded to Gigabit (1000 MB). Faculty, staff, and computer classroom machines have a dedicated 1000 MB switched Ethernet connection to a departmental Local Area Network.

Wireless Ethernet is also available throughout all iSchool spaces and much of the rest of campus.

The iSchool maintains approximately 65 servers (physical and virtual) for research, course activities, web services, computer management, and internal operations. To ensure excellent speed and reliability, the iSchool employs modern server technologies and best-practices, such as distributing core services across multiple systems to create a fault-tolerant cluster that can continue to operate if a member server fails. To further our reliability, our servers are hosted in UW datacenters with advanced climate control and redundant power and connections to the network. These advanced technologies allow us to provide excellent network performance for all our services, both on-site and across the Internet.

The University is a leader in national networking initiatives, and was one of four inaugural sites on the Internet2 "Abilene" network using a 2.4 Gbps connection.

The University also is home to the Pacific Northwest GigaPOP, a regional hub for high-speed Internet connections and services.
