Equipment Checkout

Information School affiliated students, staff and faculty can check out a variety of equipment for a 7-day period. If you need the item for more than 7 days, just let the Help Desk know when you pick it up and we are happy to extend the checkout as availability permits.

NOTE: The Help Desk is closed during UW holidays, so checkouts and returns are not available on these days.

Effective immediately and until further notice, equipment check-out and return will be by appointment only from our Mary Gates Hall room 470 office location. If you create a reservation with the website below, to borrow or return equipment, please email ihelp@uw.edu to schedule an appointment.

Faculty, Staff and Ph.D. Students

  • Camcorder (VIXIA HF R42)
  • Tripod
  • Voice Recorder (Olympus DM-10)
  • USB Desktop Microphone

Classroom Support Services / STF Equipment Checkout

iSchool students interested in checking out equipment not listed above may want to reference the STF Equipment Checkout Program website and equipment description page. This includes students interested in checking out items such as:

  • Laptops (with an operating system)
  • Projectors
  • Camcorders and Cameras
  • Voice Recorders

Checkout Process

Reserve and Pick Up Equipment

  1. Reserve equipment using the iSchool online equipment checkout system. By clicking the 'I Agree to These Terms' button, you are entering into a legally binding contract and are responsible for returning the equipment on time and in good working order.
  2. On the day you are scheduled to pick up your equipment, go to the IT Office (MGH 470) where you will sign it out.
  3. If you notice any problems with the equipment, please tell the IT staff.
  4. Provide your Husky ID or other photo identification during checkout.
  5. DISCLAIMER: Because we cannot guarantee that an item will be returned to us on time and in perfect working order, we cannot guarantee that the items you've reserved will be available on the day they're scheduled for pick up.

Return Equipment

  1. On the day you are scheduled to return your equipment, return it to the Information School IT Office.
  2. The IT staff will check that the equipment and all accessories are present and that everything is working order and in good condition.
