Volunteer Week: Transcription with the Smithsonian
Join us in celebrating Volunteer Week with a meaningful remote volunteering opportunity in partnership with the Smithsonian Transcription Center. This is a flexible, impactful way to contribute, and no prior experience is required.
About the Smithsonian Transcription Center
The Transcription Center is a free online platform where volunteers around the world help transcribe and review digitized historical documents from Smithsonian libraries, archives and museums. These materials span from the 16th century to today, and your work helps make them readable, searchable and more accessible to researchers, educators and the public.
Why participate?
Your contributions help unlock historical materials that would otherwise remain difficult to discover or use. Every transcription increases accessibility and supports the preservation of knowledge.
We’re excited to have you join us for the Transcribe‑athon and take part in making Smithsonian history more accessible. Whether you choose to work alongside others or on your own, we’re grateful for your contributions and thrilled to share this meaningful experience with you.
