Information School Convocation Ceremony
Join us in person or via livestream as we celebrate the graduating classes of iSchool degree programs on Saturday, June 1, 2024! Doors open at 11 a.m., and the ceremony begins at noon.
Each year, we celebrate the graduating classes of Informatics, MLIS, MSIM and Ph.D. students at Convocation. Residential and online students are invited to participate. Families do not need tickets to attend, but students do need to register.

2024 Convocation Speaker: Julie Averill
Julie Averill is a transformative leader who drives change through a unique leadership style that brings passion and culture in alignment with the business strategy. She is the Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President at lululemon, a global athletic apparel company, where she plays a critical role in the company’s growth, while serving as the key technology leader of both the global information security and compliance and digital transformation throughout the organization. She currently sponsors lululemon’s LGBTQ2IA+ People Network and was recently recognized on Fast Company’s 2023 Queer 50 List, an annual celebration of LGBTQ women and nonbinary innovators. She has been recognized for her innovation on the NRF Foundation’s List of People Shaping Retail’s Future 2024; as Forbes One of Fifty Innovative Technology leaders in 2021, and; for her leadership in retail as CTO of the year in 2019 by Dive Awards, among other honors. Prior to joining lululemon, Ms. Averill served as REI’s first Chief Information Officer and spent a decade at Nordstrom as a member of the company’s IT leadership team.
Ms. Averill earned her MBA from the University of Washington and a BA in Computer Science from Seattle Pacific University. She is a mother of three and enjoys traveling, pickleball and competitive sports. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion and spends much of her time working toward global equity through various efforts.
