FoodBuddy

One key to success is to build positive relationships with people but sometimes it might be difficult to find a connector or keep in touch after meeting new connections. Today we are introducing our project FoodBuddy that will bridge the gap between technology and interpersonal relationships and revolutionize the way to network in a casual environment through dining. FoodBuddy essentially is an events-based IOS app that connects you to eat with your friends, colleagues or even strangers. Registered users can easily publish and join events, explore hot activities nearby and follow the person you are interested in talking to. More importantly, you can grow your relationship with others right away. Can’t wait? Stop by our booth and let us help you build up your network while having fun meals. Remember, you should never eat alone!

Game Graph: A Video Game Metadata Graph Database

Game Graph is a video game metadata graph database and web application that provides an easy and extensible way to create, store, and retrieve metadata about video games. Building upon the work done at the Seattle Interactive Media Museum (SIMM) and the Game Metadata Research (GAMER) Group, this application envisions every possible point of information within a property graph database framework. By utilizing the graph database model, users are able to easily explore the relationships of video games. The goal of this project is to provide a useful tool for cataloging video game metadata, while assisting research into video games as information objects. As a component to a larger system, Game Graph provides the structural foundation for digitally cataloging video game collections.

Improvise

People love meeting new friends. There are some applications in current market that can help people to date strangers. They are effective in some ways, but target users are limited and the matching and scheduling process is not efficient enough. In order to provide a better service to the users, we created an application that can both simplify user operations and provide more ways to meet new friends. Improvise is a Mobile application working on iOS platform that can help users to meet new friends sharing mutual interests. The best part of using Improvise is that users can skip the boring process of filling out long profiles and scheduling a formal date after slow matching. Just send out an invitation or accept one in a finger flip, your new friends, who listen to same interest channel, may already wait for you outside the tennis court when you park your car.

lamunity.com - A community for language learners

When searching for opportunities to learn to speak any language, the resources available are scarce, at best. Learning what words mean is one step, but being able to converse in the language is a difficult and crucial task for any language learner. This is something that requires lots and lots of practice, ideally in a face-to-face conversation. This is where Lamunity comes in. We built a website that will enable users to search for other members of their community, meet with them, and practice speaking together.

Loop Space

With the onset of near-instant communication via mobile devices, many platforms have been developed to enhance our collaborative abilities. People are able to collaborate with their schoolwork with Google Docs, but there are currently very few platforms that tackle creative collaboration. Loop Space is a mobile application designed for casual musicians to collaborate on a global scale. There is a messaging system that allows users to find local musicians to encourage real-time collaboration as well in order to expand beyond the constraints of our app. Our app is a musical sketchpad for multiple users to be able to collaborate effectively and spontaneously.

PACER data extraction and manipulation

Lawsuits are filed every day and can cost about $350,000 on average, per commercial tort lawsuit. Organizations are looking to reduce their exposure to such lawsuits as well as reduce the costs related to litigation. Having an indicator of possible inappropriate communications, allows an organization to be proactive in mitigating legal risk and better managing legal expenses. This project, “PACER Data Extraction and Manipulation,” represents a starting point towards an early warning of possible legal liability. The extracted relevant text from the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) will be used in a future project to create subject matter taxonomies. We are taking the first steps towards electronically managing, if not avoiding, potential legal liability for an organization.

Spottr

Having an exercise partner can provide multiple benefits during a workout. For weight lifters having a spotter when lifting, can allow the participant to lift heavier weights, push through more repetitions, maintain proper form, and most importantly ensure safety throughout the exercise. Our own research has shown that people often enjoy having someone to workout with, but also uncovers the difficulties of finding a training partner. Our app Spottr is a social utility application for mobile devices to help connect local gym goers. Designed in mind for weight lifters, Spottr hopes to make the process of finding a workout partner at your gym as easy as possible. With Spottr, users can create a post looking for a training partner, or reply to other posts to connect with other users to coordinate for more effective, satisfying, and safe work outs.

TapEat

Uncertainty makes us uneasy. When we walk into a busy restaurant and see a long line, we feel uncertain, sometimes even intimidated. We want to know whether it is worth it to wait or find another place to eat. TapEat helps remove that uncertainty. Our application provides the wait time for you, the customers, so that you can make an informed decision of where to eat. You don't have to guess or physically go to the restaurant to find that information—you can access it on your phone anywhere. Better yet, once you make the selection, you can check into the line with the app and will receive a notification when your table is ready. You can use the wait time, otherwise spent sitting in a waiting area, to do something productive. We help make your dining experience more pleasant and enjoyable by reducing meaningless wait time.

TripTips Trip Planner Canvas

While there are many websites to book flights, cars, and accommodation, not many help in creating an itinerary for vacation. TripTips is a website that minimizes the agony of travelers by getting locals at the destination to plan their trip. As part of the capstone, we are adding a new feature to the website that would allow users to effortlessly plan their travel on a map-based and a calendar-based canvas. It would be designed to be shareable on social media to allow multiple users to collaborate and edit the itinerary. This shareability and the potential virality that can result from it, would make TripTips more familiar to travelers and lead to an increased user base. Through our capstone project, we are making TripTips stand out from the crowd with its unique travel planning feature that would be user-friendly and flexible, and would give users a reason to engage with the company for their travel planning needs.
