Internships

An internship is a commitment to mentor a student for 200, 300 or 400 hours during an academic quarter. The assigned work should benefit the organization and provide an appropriate learning opportunity for the student.

Students work under the guidance of a supervisor who is an information professional and has the time to devote to outlining learning objectives, meeting weekly with the students to discuss activities and progress, and providing mid-quarter and final evaluations of the student’s performance.

Students are looking for internships or positions in a variety of areas: project management, information organization, web development, knowledge management, systems analysis, archives, technology management, reference and information services, software development, taxonomy, cataloging, information assurance, preservation administration, information architecture, user interface design, solutions consulting, information systems, corporate records management, human-computer interaction, metadata, and information policy, among others.

We recognize that internship supervisors provide an extremely valuable service for our students, and we expect our students to reciprocate by providing high-quality services at their internship placements.
