Katie Davis and Joshua Lawler were awarded a Population Health Innovation Fund grant of $50,000! The award came from the Population Health Initiative and CoMotion to pursue commercialization of the NatureCollections app developed by her group. The app aims to reverse the trend of children spending less time outdoors. Saba Kawas and Sarah Chase are also part of the research team.
Katie Davis also gave the invited talk titled, “The tech effect: Understanding and supporting today’s digital youth,” at Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA and University Child Development School in Seattle.
Alexis Hiniker was the guest blogger last week for Sesame Workshop, the website of the creators of Sesame Street. She wrote about what parents should look for in apps for preschoolers. The article was titled, Research Suggests Well-Designed Preschool Apps Can Encourage Family Engagement and Self-Regulation.

- "Reconceptualizing superwork for improved access to popular cultural objects" by Jin Ha Lee, Jacob Jett, Hyerim Cho, Travis Windleharth, Senan Kiryakos, Thomas Disher, and Shigeo Sugimoto to the ASIS&T Annual Meeting 2018.
- "Influences on the Social Practices Surrounding Commercial Music Services: A Model for Rich Interactions" by Louis Spinelli, Josephine Lau, Liz Pritchard and Jin Ha Lee to ISMIR 2018 (International Society for Music Information Retrieval).
