Quinn DuPont will give an invited lecture at the University of Chicago's Committee on Conceptual and Historical Studies of Science on Friday, May 18 titled, "Origins of the Encrypted Information Society (1945-2013)."
Later this month he will also participate in a panel presentation titled, "The Emergence of Ethical and Responsible Computer Security Research," at the International Communication Association in Prague, on May 27th.
Joe Tennis will give an invited presentation titled, "The Ideal, the Real, and Way Forward: Archival Metadata in the Contemporary Distributed Environment,” at Seventh International InterPARES Trust Symposium in Jerusalem, Israel this June.
Joe will also participate on the panel for Professional Development Strategies for Information Science Faculty titled, "Resources, Priorities, and Equity: Conversations and Practices in the Service of a Joyful Faculty Life,” at the 2018 ASIS&T Annual Meeting, which will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia) in November.
Kris Morrissey and Grayson Dirk presented on a panel titled, "Equity at the Heart of Professional Learning," at the American Alliance of Museums annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The session was based on an NSF-funded research project.
Susan Hildreth attended the American Library Association National Library Legislative Day in Washington DC this week. She was also part of the Washington State delegation led by State Librarian Cindy Aden. On her visit she visited Washington State senators and most of the Congressional delegation. She also attended a workshop and board meeting of the Library of Congress Literacy Awards Program Advisory Board. Susan is one of the original board member of the Literacy Awards program, funded by philanthropist David Rubenstein.
