Susan Hildreth gave the keynote address for the Friends of the Truckee, California Public Library. Her talk titled, Public Libraries of the Future, helped kick-off an initiative to build a new branch library. It was held at the Emigrant Trail Museum in Donner Memorial State Park.
Anna Lauren Hoffman gave an invited talk gave at Kalamazoo College's Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership on her work on data ethics, violence, and identity. The talk was supported by the Arcus Center, as well as the Kalamazoo College Library and the K College Department of Computer Science. The Arcus Center was founded in 2011 with support from the Arcus Foundation, the nation's top LGBT-specific grant making organization.
Maria Garrido and Lucas Koepke, of the iSchool’s TASCHA (Technology and Social Change), had their research featured by Nature Magazine and on nature.com in the article The Shape of Work to Come. Maria was quoted in the article, describing findings from their report, The Advancing MOOCs for Development Initiative. She described effects of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for Development. This week the review of Blue Sky, White Stars written by Michelle Martin and Liz Mills for Calling Caldecott went live. This is the Horn Book’s blog where experts in the field speculate on books that will win the 2018 Caldecott Medal. They recommend the book as a great one for children.

- The Daily of the UW quoted her in the article titled, Design Eats the World: ‘Privacy by Design’ is not just for companies. She discussed how to practice digital hygiene and take steps to "design your own privacy." The article was also reprinted in Medium as ‘Privacy by Design’ is not just for companies.
