Cedric Ith has been involved in startups throughout his career. While studying Informatics at the UW, he worked as part of a four-person healthtech startup called Pyrus Medical. The startup partnered with the UW Medicine Burn and Plastic Surgery Clinics at Harborview to help visualize the healing process utilizing mixed reality technology. Ith likewise interned at Madrona Venture Labs, where he worked with serial founders and the entrepreneurs in residence to develop and spin out new startups from scratch.
Most recently, Ith was at Forward, a company working to change the way preventative health care is delivered using technologies such as wearable sensors, mobile and AI. In-person clinics can be found in 12 cities around the country. With Forward’s focus on expanding access to health-care procedures, especially for more rural areas in the United States, he helped develop the micro-clinic concept.
During his time in the Informatics program, Ith utilized skills he learned from his iSchool coursework for internships, clubs and entrepreneurial side projects. Most notably, Ith took his knowledge of client-side web development and built InternChat, an app that helps connect design students to mentorship, internships and general career advice. InternChat had more than 2,500 engagements and helped more than 80 students from six countries.
