MSIM Admitted Student Information
Welcome to the MSIM program!
We are so excited for you to join the MSIM program’s community of scholars, leaders and innovators. Your skills, academic achievement, and contributions are the reason you were selected to be a part of this highly competitive incoming MSIM class.
Below, you will find information to help you prepare to start your MSIM program in the residential modality. Please review this website for important deadlines, reminders, and fun knowledge about the community that you will be joining. We look forward to supporting you during your upcoming academic journey!
Join the MSIM program and community
In the iSchool’s MSIM program, you’ll develop the skills to make information work. You’ll learn how to organize and analyze information using real-world case studies, recognize and solve information problems with your talented peer group, transform large datasets into useful insights, and lead information projects to transform organizations. You’ll develop the professional and interpersonal skills you need to be successful in any career you choose.
When you join MSIM at the University of Washington, you are joining a community inside and outside the classroom. You foster connections with classmates, professors, and alumni as you go throughout the program. As it is your responsibility to engage and make the best of your experiences, we also want to ensure that a community atmosphere is there for you. There are a variety of ways to connect with others through our virtual student community, peer facilitators, student government group, town halls, and alumni networking events.
Funding
Please check out the Tuition and Paying for School section on the sidebar to find out information about tuition rates. If you need resources for funding your graduate studies, Graduate Funding Information Services is a great place to start. You can request a 1-on-1 appointment or attend a presentation.
Careers
We want to help you succeed even after you have graduated from our program. Our iSchool specific Career Services team and the UW-wide Career & Internship Center coordinate employer events and alumni panels to connect you with people in the industry you are striving for, provide resume and cover letter support, coach students for behavioral interview preparation, and more. You will be able to use the iSchool career team’s services (such as 1:1 advising appointments) from the first week of classes until up to one year after you graduate.
International students
MSIM has a vibrant community of students that come from all over the world, and we love welcoming everyone to our campus and city. Your diverse experiences and international perspective allow us to have robust, intentional, and socially conscious conversations. We look forward to having you join the MSIM and iSchool family.
As you start your journey to Seattle, the iSchool has provided a few resources that can help with your travel plans and adjustment to life in the U.S. Please review the links in the sidebar that highlight housing resources, technology resources, and UW resources to help you get started.
