MLIS Law Librarianship Admitted Student Q&A
Join the Director of the MLIS Law Librarianship program, Carla Wale, and a current student in the program to get your questions answered as an admitted student to the program. Meet the other admitted students in the program, your future classmates and colleagues. All admitted MLIS Law Librarianship students are welcome to join this virtual event.

Hear from MLIS program faculty who will introduce themselves, provide insight into learning outcomes and connecting with faculty, discuss iSchool opportunities and programs, and take part in a Q&A.
New MLIS Student Registration Workshop
Join this session to go over the course registration process in full detail. We’ll review the curriculum, discuss course options, and demo the various sites and systems for a successful registration in your Autumn Quarter classes. This session will be recorded and posted.

Graduate Student Equity & Excellence (GSEE) Prospective Student Days Virtual Panel
GSEE’s Prospective Student Days provides an opportunity for admitted prospective students to connect with GSEE students and staff. This event will be a live Q&A via Zoom that will highlight current students of color who will share their experience being a graduate student at the UW and answer questions regarding financial aid, ethnic and cultural resources, and more.

Graduate Student Equity & Excellence (GSEE) Prospective Student Days In-Person Reception
GSEE’s Prospective Student Days provides an opportunity for admitted prospective students to connect with GSEE students and staff. This event will be an in-person reception where admitted prospective students will have an opportunity to drop in and chat with current graduate students and staff in an unstructured space, with refreshments and drinks provided. This event will take place in the Peterson Room, 4th Floor Allen Library.

iSchool Orientation
MLIS New Student In-Person Orientation
September 2024
Join the MLIS staff and faculty to get oriented to the program and connect with your incoming MLIS student cohort. The in-person orientation is open to both online and residential students, and it is recommended that residential students attend. Please look out for communications with more details closer to the event.

Join the MLIS staff and faculty to get oriented to the program and connect with your incoming MLIS student cohort. The online orientation is open to online students and to residential students who are unable to attend in-person. Please look out for communications with more details closer to the event.
Academic Planning
The new, updated curriculum for the program is now posted on the MLIS Law Librarianship website and we encourage you to explore the new requirements. The Law Librarianship program can be completed at a full-time or a part-time pace. The average full-time course load per quarter is three to four classes (average of 12 credits per quarter). During autumn quarter, you will take up to 12 credits:
- LIS 520: Information Resources, Services, and Collections (4)
- LIS 595: Research and Writing in Law Librarianship (1)
- LIS 579: Instructional Strategies for Legal Information (3)
- LIS 592: Legal Research Methods (4)
Classes in the Law Librarianship program are delivered in the traditional classroom setting on the University of Washington campus, synchronously online, and/or asynchronously online. Attend an Admitted Student Event to learn more about the new updates to course modalities.
