International Student Admissions
An international student is defined as any person who is not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident, and requires a visa to be in the U.S. This includes individuals who have visas with the designation F1, J1, H4, etc.
There are no separate application requirements or procedures for international applicants. Please follow the same application process and submit the same materials as instructed.
Program Modality Requirement
F-1 and J-1 visas are not issued for online students.
English Language Proficiency Requirement
Non-native English speakers should review the requirements to document your English language proficiency on the application materials page.
Financial Ability Requirements
Applicants requesting an F-1 or J-1 student visa must meet the University of Washington's financial ability requirement. Applicants should not mail financial ability documents or bank statements to the Information School during the admissions process. Individuals who are admitted to the program and accept the offer of admission will be given further instructions. Information about financial ability requirements is available on the UW Graduate School website.
