As an iSchool student, Raiham Malik found inspiration from her professors and learned to seek more from technology. Since her Capstone team project, the ListeningPal app, Malik says she has continually sought AI solutions to improve lives.
This eventually led to mAlIk software, a fully woman-led startup located in Bellevue that creates AI tools such as software that assists programmers. Programmers using the company’s code review tool can expect a 66 percent increase in time savings, Malik says. In its next iteration, the review tool app will use both ML and AI to provide code suggestions and feedback to programmers, further increasing their productivity and quality.
Malik says the enthusiasm she shared with iSchool faculty such as Professor Amy J. Ko is what has propelled her in her field.
“Amy Ko has always been a great inspiration for me even before I got into the iSchool,” she says. “Her commitment to diversity and inclusion and drive to make the world better through technology pulled me toward the iSchool. Amy and Greg Hay were always supportive of leadership and taking ownership of your career. Being an entrepreneur meant making your career align with your personal beliefs, and I learned at the iSchool that I could have this agency over my future.”
