External Funding for MSIM Students
Professional Organizations
The Information Science field is a broad degree and MSIM students should research a variety of companies, organizations and topics to identify scholarships that may be applicable to them.
Start by researching organizations in specific areas of information science such as data science, user experience (UX), human computer interaction (HCI), or cybersecurity/information assurance. You might also search for scholarships in the area of management, which may include business intelligence and consulting.

Specific Populations
There are scholarship opportunities based on gender, ethnicity and disabilities and other diversity areas. Again, you need to research as many places as possible to identify opportunities applicable to you. (For example, there are a number of scholarships for women pursuing education in STEM fields.)
Check with civic groups or religious organizations.
If continuing to work while in school, check to see if your employer has a tuition reimbursement program.
