Transplanting Grapevine: Updating the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Employee Intranet

Grapevine, the Puget Sound Regional Council’s intranet, is a resource rich with HR documents, historical records, and more. However, it is inconvenient to access, requiring VPN login, and challenging to navigate. For my Capstone, I began planning to update and rebuild Grapevine using Microsoft SharePoint. I conducted a survey to learn how staff currently use Grapevine and researched how to build a SharePoint intranet site to meet PSRC’s needs. Utilizing my findings, I drafted a site map and a SharePoint hub for future user-testing. This project will help the PSRC Library Manager build a better organized and more user-friendly Grapevine.

7 Forms of Respect + iDataBased: Building Respect in the Workplace

The 7 Forms of Respect quiz and assessment tool from CuriosityBased assists teams in building respectful relationships in the workplace. Continuing a previous Capstone engagement, our team developed a more streamlined solution built upon Google Suite and Google Apps Script. The project scope included creating a quiz interface that is intuitive, a more functional test result PDF page, and an eCommerce integration enabling users to purchase a premium assessment if desired. As a Women and minority-owned enterprise, CuriosityBased can leverage the revamped solution to reach an even greater number of stakeholders while reducing manual intervention for the in-house team.

Building a Digital Archive for a Local Non-Profit

This capstone presentation provides a high-level summary of Corey Cherrington's work building a digital archive for the Celtic Arts Foundation in Mount Vernon, WA. To complete this goal, I have created an archive for the Celtic Arts Foundation’s historical materials (physical and born-digital) and enacted a long-term plan to stabilize the records involved in this archiving project. Key areas of focus are: Digital Preservation, Digital Asset Management, Information Architecture, and user experience design.

CIP Data Library

The Center for an Informed Public (CIP) has an enormous volume of data that has been collected for over a decade. This data spans hundreds of targeted and ongoing crisis events and has been sampled and archived in various ways. This capstone's objective is to make the CIP's research sharable, reproducible, and accessible. The result of this capstone is a web-based library with test datasets and documentation on how the CIP can start the process of creating their data library. The data library will help establish the CIP as a leading organization for social media-based research on misinformation and disinformation.

Improving member engagement of a non-profit organization (Cascade Bicycle Club) through website redesign

Cascade Bicycle Club suffers from a disorganized website, thus burdening user experience and reducing revenue/donations. This website redesign project includes three aspects. First, creating functional requirements. Second, conducting an analysis of CMS platforms and third party plugins that are compatible with Salesforce; our recommended CMS platform is Drupal 9 and an Events and Membership Management solution from Advanced Communities, a Salesforce boutique consultancy. Third, redesigning the information architecture to improve navigation experience for users. This website redesign project aims to optimize user experience while suggesting the best CMS platform that serves its functionalities and reduces management costs.

MatchLab: Democratizing University Research Opportunities

Finding research opportunities at universities is an extremely time-consuming and ineffective process that often leads to frustrated, empty-handed students, students who quickly churn out of roles due to poor fit, and research leads ending up behind schedule. Online research postings are often outdated, and the most common way principal investigators (PIs) find candidates -- through people they already know -- is neither an efficient nor inclusive process. To address this problem, we created MatchLab, an online platform that democratizes research opportunities and saves students and PIs time and frustration.
