Microsoft Encounter

Microsoft Learn was designed to be a student-facing platform to help develop technical skills but the experience was targeted towards professionals. Our team collaborated with university students to re-architect the site and build a platform that was more enticing to their skill level. By customizing the platform to better fit their needs, our solution, Microsoft Encounter, alleviates the major pain points of the Learn platform and delivers all the key features students look for in a technical learning site. In turn, this will lead to brand loyalty and turn the students of today into their customers of tomorrow.

Mirror: Your Annual Social Media Report

Social media has negative effects on people’s emotions and social well-being by raising or reducing their self-awareness. We then designed a personal informatics tool, which is a usage report that guides users to learn about their posting activities and self-reflect. With the exact data extracted from users’ social media along with the data analysis we did, we could provide an easy, enjoyable, and heart-warming way for them to deeply self-reflect, including reminding them of their good memories and highlight moments, giving them numbers and visualizations, etc. Users can make adjustments accordingly to experience more positive social well-being.

Moonshot

The Pacific Science Center collaborated with Magic Leap to provide unique and immersive experience to visitors. Project Moonshot is a game application that utilizes Magic Leap One’s spatial computing ability to bring the entire solar system within ‘reachable’ distance to the players. Player’s task is to place planets in the correct orbits respectively. To ensure the accuracy and relevance of the educational value, the game is designed based on Common Core states standards for grade 6-8 students. While the game application is immersive, it is also interactive which requires multiple players to collaborate and exchange information in order to win.

myMedDiary

Currently, the medical research world has a serious lack of access to accurate & detailed patient data points in studies that require patients self-documenting by pen and paper. myMedDiary is a digitalized personal diary in which patients can track their symptoms & it’s severity on their phone. Patients and approved medical professionals may then easily view the analysis of the patient’s symptom data through the website portal on any device, simply by signing in with their C-RA accounts. With myMedDiary’s detailed data points & visualizations, medical professionals can make more informed and data driven diagnoses for their patient’s treatment/prevention plans.

Outreach

Outreach is a web-application that bridges the communication gap between immigrant parents and middle school teachers to aid in student learning. We realize that when parents are engaged in their children’s academic lives, students are more often to excel. Teachers will be able to communicate with parents through a web application enabling them to send out weekly messages to encourage conversation within the home. Our goal as a collective is to create a family inclusive environment for immigrant parents that struggle to get their children to college.

PUSHSPRING Marketplace Search

Our marketplace search recommender system is a web app that users can use to explore the apps related to a persona or a given mobile app based on PushSpring's local user data rather than average result such as the ones Google gives. Our system was implemented with both CNN and NLP to maximize diversity and relevancy in recommendations. Combining benefits from both content-based and user-based recommendation models, our model produces valuable insights that can't be found elsewhere.

Reinventing Students’ Career Navigation Experience

Landing a good job and having a well-planned career path is necessary for every college student or graduate. While during this process, connecting with seniors or networking plays an important role to figure out the career path. But recently, some discovered facts show that many students don’t realize the value of networking and don’t know how to manage the networking process. This project aims to create a holistic user evaluated digital experience that could improve students’ experience and journey of choosing from their career options and appropriating steps they should take to reach their goals.

Remote Stroke Rehabilitation on VR

Stroke survivors need constant and effective rehabilitation to restore their life to normal, but not everyone can afford the time and money to visit doctors or care centers. Building a VR rehabilitation product, we bring the medical professionals to patients at home, monitoring their rehabilitation data, connecting doctors and patients online, and providing dynamic advice to speed up their rehabilitation progress. The product makes their rehab experience cheaper and more efficient with AI monitored exercises. With our project, our sponsor Kaspect can work on combining clinical side experience with patient side and begin experimenting with this new experience

Scheduling Software Pilot for Seattle Public Library

Employee scheduling is a crucial task for most organizations regardless of their size. Currently, the Public Services team at SPL manually prepares the schedules of their employees using Microsoft Excel and Sharepoint. This manual process takes a lot of time and effort to create as well as manage schedules. We conducted research to build a flexible solution providing user-friendly interface and easy customizations. This solution would enable the scheduling team to be agile in creating and changing schedules as per the library branches’ requirements, thus enabling resource optimization and quick decision making.
