The name Evan Frawley may seem familiar. That is because in 2022, Frawley, Informatics ’18, was named to Forbes’ “30 under 30” list after selling his esports startup called Kanga to Riot Games. Kanga wasn’t Frawley’s first startup attempt, but one of a series that included one developed during his time at the iSchool and one not-so-successful virtual menu app. That experience led Frawley to Redfin, where he only worked for six months until the startup bug resurfaced.
He moved to New York and started working on Kanga, a startup that built products for gamers, esports organizations and content creators. In summer 2021, Kanga was acquired by Riot Games and Frawley stayed on board as a software engineer.
He is also the founder of resume.lol, a “side passion project” to create a better resume-building experience. Within two months of its launch, more than 2,000 people had created accounts and added their resumes.
“Throughout [my] undergrad, I used the skills from the INFO courses I took to build and launch projects,” Frawley said. “Most notably, I took my server-side web development final project, continued working on it, and then launched it to the UW community. It was a dating app where you match with people based on ‘meme’ preference, to find someone with a similar sense of humor as you.”
