Postdoctoral Scholar - Computational Social Science
The University of Washington Information School invites applications for a 1-year appointment as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the area of Computational Social Science. The postdoc will primarily work on a project titled The Architecture of Accountability in Latin America sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This Postdoctoral Scholar will work with Associate Professor Nic Weber.
Candidates with a background in Data Science, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or Political Science and related fields of research are strongly encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Developing software to collect, manage, and analyze data about governance in Latin America
- Designing projects that analyze, communicate results, and publish research articles related to project findings
- Collaborate with researchers at Georgetown University’s Center for Latin American Studies and the University of Washington’s DataLab on related research
The position is hosted by the University of Washington, a world-class research university in the Pacific Northwest. The Information School is located in Seattle, Washington, on the homelands of the Coast Salish peoples whose land touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot nations. The successful candidate will join a broad-based, inclusive Information School, whose faculty members pursue their research, teaching, and service across multiple degree programs and are committed to leadership, innovation, social justice and upholding tribal sovereignty.

Salary range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. See current salary scale for Postdoctoral titles at https://hr.uw.edu/labor/academic-and-student-unions/uaw-postdocs/uaw-postdoc-contract The base salary for this Postdoctoral Scholar position will be $5,705 – $5,833 per month ($68,460 – $70,000 per 12-month academic year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
