According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, approximately "three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihood." Therefore, it is critical that we do our part to maintain the cleanliness of our oceans and lakes. Our solution is a gamified website aimed to raise public awareness of beach cleanups in order to combat the growing threat of pollution. Through our website, users have the opportunity to grow a community and obtain achievements for finding and attending local beach cleanups with their friends.

The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. A large contributor that many people buy into is fast fashion. We found that college students often participate in fast fashion due to practicality and lack of knowledge on the negative environmental and societal impacts. To raise awareness and encourage sustainable habits, we created a Google Chrome extension called Root that rates clothing brands based on their sustainable and ethical practices. Root also provides users suggestions for alternatives and more in-depth information on our ratings.

Since the onset of the global pandemic, we have lost the flexibility to meet friends, families, and colleagues in person. Therefore, we incubated an innovative web application, a drop-in video chat social network, to foster spontaneous connections with your friends and a 2nd-degree network that supports up to 12 people in the same room. Our service will improve the sense of belonging and provide a new venue for people to meet and connect.

Microsoft’s Mixed Reality team needs to integrate a document management system (DMS) into their organization for managing policy documents. Due to the sensitive nature of the team, the DMS must meet functional needs and baseline security requirements. Team Infognito developed a security review process and evaluated the security posture of multiple platforms. We recommended ServiceNow GRC based on our evaluation. The process provides the necessary tools for Mixed Reality to evaluate any third-party platform without having to create a new process each time. It is a scalable process which standardizes the procedures for application approval and saves the organization’s resources.

The security industry is rapidly developing and changing, creating a knowledge gap and skills shortage due to the challenging learning curve. Analysts and students struggle with the overwhelming amount of data that typical network analysis tools display, which leads to a time-consuming investigation process. The SecViz tool allows SecOps analysts to read and dynamically visualize packet logs, leading to faster identification, investigation, and mitigation of KPIs. In addition, the tool helps expedite the speed of identifying security gaps that may have been missed or taken a significant amount of time to come across.

The current quarterly access review process at Smartsheet comes with a myriad of challenges. Smartsheet’s access reviews are time-consuming and draw upon a lot of resources. There’s a large company-wide communication effort to track changes in employee structure. Our Identity and Access Management Dashboard presents the Smartsheet Compliance team with employee change metrics tracked with custom automation, a report containing highlighted daily employee changes, and visualizations used to present a historical timeline of changes in employee structure. With our dashboard, Smartsheet’s Compliance team will be able to save time and resources and have key actionable insights to employee changes.

Smartsheet is a suite of products that makes teams productive through cloud-connected tools. System Administrator users using Smartsheet manage their users and settings, and they use reports and bulk actions for auditing purposes and user management. In the current system, reports and bulk action statuses are sent via email. Thus, there is no possible way to audit or track these items, which causes unnecessary confusion. Through this project, we designed & developed a dashboard for users to enable managing reports and bulk actions conveniently. Through these new features, admin users gain more control and flexibility to do their jobs.

The Sno-King Amateur Hockey Association collects and stores tens of thousands of registration and donation data entries across seven different platforms each year. With their data storage not being centralized, accessing their data has become increasingly difficult as the organization has grown and more data continues to flow in. For our Capstone project, we were tasked with creating and filling a centralized database, and then making analyses based on that data. From the work we have done, our sponsor will be able to make their own analyses to make better marketing decisions for its adult and youth hockey programs.

Currently, there is not enough information available to the public when it comes to hearing health, and this is creating a stigma where people are reluctant and even refusing to wear hearing aids. Hearing Education, working with Sound Sustainability, focuses on increasing awareness of the importance of hearing health by providing helpful resources all in one location. Our team, along with two other student-led teams, hopes to destigmatize hearing loss by teaching people about their own hearing and helping them engage in the hearing community.

The pandemic has caused us to start shifting towards a more remote workspace for students and industry workers. Software developers have the tools to be able to work in this condition, but the experience is not always great. Developers in teams have trouble working together on projects because the current tools available make it difficult. Most of the issues lie in the fact that code is not easily shareable and requires slightly tedious tasks to do so. That is why we have made SSCode—an online programming platform that allows developers to create programming scripts online and script synchronously with others.
