Directed Fieldwork
In this internship for credit program for MLIS students, organizations identify a supervisor committed to mentoring a student for 100, 150 or 200 hours during an academic quarter. The assigned work is beneficial to the organization and involves skills and knowledge that the student has already begun to develop through coursework, but in which they do not yet have a high level of expertise.
Supervisors work with students to outline learning objectives and then meet weekly to discuss activities and progress. Supervisors agree to provide mid-quarter and final evaluations of the student’s performance.
