Facilities for Faculty
The iSchool resides in three separate buildings within UW campus. The iSchool has its biggest presence in MGH including faculty offices and labs, Ph.D students, Student Services, IT Help desk, and the Dean’s office with faculty affairs and administrative support. The iSchool student lounge, many study labs and classrooms are in MGH occupying the largest part of the third floor and the entire fourth floor, along with a fair section of the ground floor. Additionally, Bloedel houses our research teams, a few faculty offices and additional administrative support staff. Here the iSchool has more than 6,500 square feet and includes a state of the art teaching classroom and conference room, full catering kitchen and additional smaller meeting spaces. Our third campus space is the 11th floor of UW Tower in which the bulk of iSchool staff reside. This includes faculty support, administration and planning, advancement, communications, web design administrators, facilities, finance and human resources. The UW campus map is an invaluable reference.
Access to campus buildings including MGH and Bloedel requires activation of your Husky card to the campus electronic lock system (CAAMS). iSchool facilities manages Husky card (CAAMS) access. Activation occurs at the time you are hired. Email ibuildings@uw.edu prior to the start of your class to ensure you have the appropriate access. This is particularly important if your class is in the evenings or on weekends.
Many conference rooms can be reserved using your Outlook calendar. All reservable conference rooms begin with "iSchool;" search for "iSchool" in the dropdown box in Outlook. See instructions for how to schedule a room in Outlook. Contact ireception@uw.edu with questions.
Faculty mailboxes are in MGH 370 (the Dean’s suite); guest faculty have folders for their mail in the file cabinet just inside MGH 370.
iSchool copy machines available for your use are in MGH370, MGH330 or MGH015. You may also send copy and scan requests to ireception@uw.edu as an email message with an attached file or place the item(s) to be copied in the box labeled "Work" at the main reception desk in MGH 370. Please submit your request at least two business days in advance and be sure to indicate when the job should be completed, how many copies are needed, whether the copies should be single- or double-sided, and whether they should be stapled. Copy Request Forms are available in the Work box. The GA Crew (gahelp@uw.edu) is also available to help with copy/scan requests.
