Adobe Photoshop Express Recommendation Algorithm Redesign

The Photoshop Express Discover feed aims to recommend posts from a variety of content creators, not just the popular ones. We redesigned the recommendation algorithm based on collaborative filtering to predict interested topics by using recent post interactions from users. Our algorithm evolves as the user continues to interact with the product and promotes content based on users’ subject interests. This solution will help users explore and expand their individual interests and find communities to share creations, leading to more content sharing and boosting engagement.

BARK: Your Virtual Support Animal

BARK! is a platform that provides digital companionship with a virtual support animal. While traditional emotional support animals are a great resource for those who are struggling with their mental wellbeing, they remain inaccessible to many who could benefit from a support animal. Through simple interactions with the virtual pet, mental check-ins, assistance with scheduling, and information about real emotional support animals, BARK! strives to provide individuals with a sense of companionship and support that a traditional emotional support animal would provide, in a significantly more accessible medium.

Current credential practices lack the ability for an individual to verify this information and build trust between workers and employers. BlockHealth aims to provide workers with credible ownership of the credentials they earned through the decentralized nature of the Ethereum blockchain. This project was sponsored by Last Myle LLC. The initial target user group for this product is healthcare workers.

Compliance Reporting & Tracking Chatbot

Microsoft's Mixed Reality GRC program currently leverages various GRC management solutions such as ticketing tools, dashboards, and automated workflows to meet the GRC obligations. However, as the volume of requests increases, the Mixed Reality GRC team seeks an integrated and centralized platform to reduce operational overhead, increase efficiency, and improve overall usability. This project creates a virtual chatbot to provide main features like submitting a request, updating a request, and troubleshooting questions. This new functionality will allow all Microsoft employees to communicate and resolve issues seamlessly with the Mixed Reality GRC program.

Interaction Design & Children Designer's Toolkit

For designers, academic research papers are often hard to access and apply in practice, due to academic jargon and a lack of actionable guidelines. Our goal is to bridge the research-practice gap to promote the creation of research-driven designs. The IDC (Interaction Design & Children) Toolkit website gives designers easy access to evidence-based and theoretically-driven findings to inform their design and business decisions around children’s products. The toolkit also aims to help researchers better translate research findings into actionable design guidelines through a step-by-step submission form.

Shelp: A homeless shelter review application

Shelp allows users to view information about shelters in one place. Users who are seeking shelters, are able to view shelter information, post and see comments about shelters. We scraped hundreds of shelter data from google maps and allowed shelter organizations to update shelter information on our site once they verify their identity. For shelter administrators, they are able to claim their shelters in our application and modify shelter information. We believe our solution can help shelter users get informed when finding a shelter and for shelter owners to get the most up-to-date information to build community.

Tadashi - The Ultimate Team Experience

Tadashi aims to give in-class teams positive working experiences when completing their projects. After conducting interviews, we identified three core concepts behind what makes a great team: communication, accountability, and reflection. We implemented those three concepts into a centralized platform with four key features: a teambase, messaging, reflection board, and task management with rolling leadership. Our platform makes a difference because teamwork is more than just completing tasks, it is about learning and applying good foundations that students can take into their careers. Tadashi aims to reduce negative experiences because we know the magic that good teams can create.
