A technologist by training, David Levy’s scholarship examines how individuals can live healthy, creative, reflective, and productive lives in an always-on, information-saturated world. His body of work includes two books — Scrolling Forward: Making Sense of Documents in the Digital Age (2001) and Mindful Tech: How to Bring Balance to Our Digital Lives (2016) — and the first scientific study (with collaborators Jacob Wobbrock, Marilyn Ostergren, and Alfred Kaszniak) showing that meditation increases concentration and reduces emotional volatility for those in stressful, information technology-intensive environments.
