iSchool Erasing Inequality

Equality n. – The condition of having equal dignity, rank, or privileges with others; the fact of being on an equal footing—of being equal in power, ability, achievement, or excellence.

As students from underrepresented backgrounds, we often feel invisible in academic and professional environments. Our experiences, our languages, and our cultures are confronted with challenges of assimilation.

It is the mission of iEquality to provide a safe space for students from ALL identities to engage in dialogue and action around issues of oppression. Such a space is meant for both the personal and the political. We are committed to working with allies in organizing events — open to the student body — that focus on intersectional issues of oppression, as they relate to the UW iSchool and the field of information at large.
