Association of Library and Information Science Students
The Association of Library and Information Science Students (ALISS) is the student government for the UW Master of Library and Information Science program. Students in this program are automatically members of ALISS; you don't have to do anything else to join!
ALISS officers advocate for student needs by meeting with faculty and administration, hosting quarterly town halls, sharing resources with students, and coordinating with other iOrgs to host events. Some of its past events have included group hikes, craft & chats, game nights, and the annual iGala and Book Sale.
ALISS would love to hear from you! Share your questions, concerns, and ideas for social gatherings by emailing aliss@uw.edu or using its contact form, which has an anonymous option. You can also follow ALISS on Instagram or reach out in the #ALISS channel of the student Discord, under the “school” category.
If you’d like to learn more, check out the group's website.
Get Involved
ALISS hosts two town halls every quarter: one for students only and another with iSchool leadership and administrative staff. These events are great for sharing your questions, concerns, and feedback about the program.
ALISS hosts elections for other student orgs in the iSchool during the fall and spring quarters. Stay tuned for election emails and make sure to nominate yourself for a role. No experience is required. There may also be opportunities to volunteer at events such as the book sale.
