Karen Fisher and Ayat Nashwan have been awarded a $50,000 Foundational Integrity Research program grant by Facebook for Digital Literacy and Social Media UX of Marginalized Women and Girls in Jordan.
Amy J. Ko published a new book titled Critically Conscious Computing: Methods for Secondary Education. The book was co-authored with Anne Beitlers, Brett Wortzman, Matt Davidson, Alannah Oleson, Mara Kirdani-Ryan, and Stefania Druga. This was an NSF-funded project to help prepare middle and high school teachers to teach CS critically and sociotechnically.
Tanu Mitra and Momen Bhuiyan (Virginia Tech) had a paper conditionally accepted to CHI 2022: “RecXchange: Facilitating Content Discovery and Reflection by Exchanging YouTube Recommendations with Strangers.” Authors: Md Momen Bhuiyan, Carlos Isaza, Tanu Mitra, Sang Won Lee.
Tanu Mitra also gave a seminar presentation at Stanford’s Cyber Policy Center’s Fall seminar series. The event was attended by more than 150 people.
