Jaime Snyder had two papers accepted with accompanying invitations to present:
- "Interpretive Impacts of Text Visualization: Mitigating Political Framing Effects" was accepted to ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction (TOCHI) with Eric Baumer and Geri Gay. They have also been invited to present this paper at an upcoming SIGCHI conference.
- Quantifying the Changeable Self: The role of self-tracking in coming to terms with and managing bipolar disorder was published in Human–Computer Interaction with Mark Matthews and Elizabeth Murnane. They were also invited to present at CHI’18 in Montreal.
Nick Logler, Daisy Yoo, and Batya Friedman had their pictorial Metaphor Cards: A How-to-Guide for Making and Using a Generative Metaphorical Design Toolkit accepted to the 2018 Designing Interactive Systems (DIS) conference in Hong Kong.
Jordan Eschler and Amanda Menking’s article "‛No Prejudice Here’: Examining Social Identity Work in Starter Pack Memes” was accepted by Social Media + Society. It will be published within the month.
Jevin West has traveled to the following venues to present his research:
- 2018 Rolf Buchdahl Endowed Lecture on Science, Technology, and Human Values for the Interdisciplinary Studies Program at North Carolina State University (March 16th).
- Society for Personality and Social Psychology Annual Meeting to deliver his invited talk titled, “Bullshitting: Empirical and Experiential Examinations of a Pervasive Social Behavior” (March 3rd).
- Seattle Chamber of Commerce where he spoke about Data Reasoning in Decision Making (March 5th).
- Boeing Executive Workshop on Data Science to deliver the keynote address (January 11th).
Alexis Hiniker and her students had the following two papers accepted to the Interaction Design and Children conference (IDC). Jason Yip also contributed to the second paper.
- “Why Doesn’t It Work? Voice-Driven Interfaces and Young Children’s Communication Repair Strategies” with Yi Cheng, Kuan-Chu Yen, Yeqi Chen, Sijin Chen, and Yiran Ni.
