Jacob O. Wobbrock has terrific news about two of his papers: His paper entitled, “Epidemiology as a framework for large-scale mobile application accessibility assessment” with co-authors Annie Ross (CSE), Xiaoyi Zhang (CSE), and James Fogarty (CSE) was nominated for the ACM SIGACCESS ASSETS 2017 Best Paper Award. Seven papers of 126 submissions were accorded the nomination. Of those, the best paper will be chosen prior to the ASSETS 2017 conference in October in Baltimore, MD. His paper entitled, “User-defined gestures for surface computing” with co-authors Meredith Ringel Morris (MSR) and Andrew Wilson (MSR), published in 2009, has now entered the Top-10 most-cited papers of all-time from the flagship ACM CHI conference. The paper is the youngest paper in the top-10 all-time cited papers, most having come from the 1990s.
Jessica Hullman received $10,000 from Adobe Systems for her research in building novel creative authoring applications, such as adding speech input to creative applications, like Photoshop, and building authoring tools for scientific figures. Congratulations, Jessica!
