Biography

Shawn Schollmeyer is a Guest Faculty Member at the University of Washington Information School specializing in digital asset management and digital collections preservation. She began her library experience working as a library assistant and copy cataloger at her local public library and throughout her college years in Oregon. She left and moved to Washington to become a digital image cataloger for Corbis Images in their early years and learned the importance of effective thesaurus and taxonomy development in a corporate environment. However, it was her experience at Microsoft Studios where she learned her love of digital asset management, pushing the boundaries of digital collections in an audio/video environment.

Now Shawn works with libraries, museums, and historical societies across the state as a consultant for Washington State Library, sharing her knowledge of newspaper digitization after working on three National Digital Newspaper Program grants with the Library of Congress.
