Biography

Misha Stone (she/her) is a guest instructor at the University of Washington Information School specializing in readers' advisory. She is passionate about training future librarians in the art of validating readers and helping them learn the appeal analysis and listening skills to help readers in their life-long pursuit of leisure reading and learning. Since graduating from the Information School in 2002, she has worked as a librarian in the Seattle area; she has been a children's librarian and branch manager and has focused on readers' advisory for adults for 18 years. She has hosted and supported a wide variety of literary and community-based library programs including author events, drag shows, karaoke events, pop-culture focused conventions, writing workshops, and film series. She regularly appears on local television programs promoting books and library programs. She also serves on the board of the Clarion West Writers Workshop, a local non-profit for speculative fiction writers whose mission is to support emerging and underrepresented voices by providing writers with world-class instruction to empower their creation of wild and amazing worlds.
