The annual iSchool Career Fair offers the community the opportunity to network with employers that are particularly interested in recruiting UW Seattle students and alumni for part-time, full-time and internship positions.

In the HUB Ballroom on Feb. 6, 455 students and alumni arrived with their resumes and portfolios in hopes of connecting with representatives of the 13 employers in attendance, including Accenture, ChildCare Careers, Costco Wholesale, Epic, Intuit, King County Library System, Northwest Railway Museum, Office of Secretary of State, Reading Partners, Strategic Systems Programs, the Museum of Pop Culture, UW iSchool Career Services and UW Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

Inside the career fair, more lines quickly formed as students flocked to meet employer representatives.

The first two hours of the event were reserved for iSchool students only, before the doors were opened to all other UW students and alumni.

Informatics student and attendee Zareen Tasnim said, “The career fair provides a unique opportunity to engage with employers who specifically value the diverse skill set of iSchool students, such as in UI/UX, HCI, and data science. I would love to see more of these events organized to help students like me who are in the job-seeking phase to gain even deeper insights into various industries and positions.”

The event coordinator, Meg Gallagher, said, “To be able to put on an event like this makes my whole job meaningful – I get to see hundreds of students in one day, be available for questions, ask them how their chats went with employer representatives, and celebrate them when they tell me they had a great conversation and are potentially getting an offer.”

Meanwhile, a second event, the GLAM [galleries, libraries, archives and museums] Virtual Career Festival for Library Students and Government, Library, Archive, and Museum Employers, is scheduled to be held over Zoom on Friday, Feb. 28. Register on Handshake for more information.
