In February, the University of Washington Information School will host iConference 2011, an annual information summit that brings together 500 professionals and scholars from around the world. The iConference provides a forum for reflection, engagement, and dialog with leaders in the field of information. New and future collaborations are fostered, speakers from academia and industry share their vision, and innovative solutions to challenges emerging from the information field are presented.
Presenting sponsors are Microsoft Research, Intelius and Serials Solutions. Other sponsorship opportunities are available. The Conference will be held:
When: February 8-11, 2011
Where: Renaissance Hotel, Seattle, USA
During presentations and break-out sessions, attendees are encouraged to help shape the study of people, information, and technology through rich, dynamic discussion. The 2011 event will showcase diversity in research interests and approaches, with an eye to demonstrating how the field creates leadership and impact on a global scale. Areas currently being examined in depth through an information lens include search, user experience design and human-computer interaction, information management, knowledge organization, information assurance, and information and communication technologies for development. This work is illuminated by thoughtful engagement with ethical concerns and policy issues that create and support the environments in which we share, create, store, organize, manipulate, and access information.
