Human Information Interaction, a new book by Raya Fidel, published by MIT Press, seeks to bridge the gap between the study of human interaction and the design of information systems.
Fidel reviews the research in her chosen field, human information interaction, and then introduces a framework called cognitive work analysis (CWA), developed by Jens Rasmussen and colleagues. She suggests that CWA "offers an ecological approach to design, analyzing the forces in the environment that shape human interaction with information."
The benefit of CWA is helping designers create information systems that are specifically tailored to how humans live every day.
