Facts, Not Fighting: How to Talk About Misinformation
This workshop is being offered by Sno-Isle Libraries in partnership with the Center for an Informed Public (CIP), featuring University of Washington Information School researchers. The CIP is a multidisciplinary research center at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle that has a mission to “resist strategic misinformation, promote an informed society and strengthen democratic discourse.” The center’s work revolves around four pillars: research; education; engagement; and law and policy. Keep learning using resources from the CIP.
"Our society is increasingly polarized, making it difficult to even agree on basic facts. This means that talking about misinformation can be difficult, whether the conversation is online or around your dining room table. Join us with the experts from the Center for an Informed Public to talk about common techniques for having difficult conversations on controversial topics.
This workshop will provide participants with an overview of different approaches for effectively engaging others about misinformation and sensitive topics regularly affected by misinformation.
This event will be recorded for later viewing on the Sno-Isle Libraries YouTube channel, and will be available for five years."
