ClearView Assist: Aiding the Visually Impaired in Navigating Cluttered Websites with Generative AI

Team TechTribe identified a prevalent challenge among the blind and low vision community; navigating cluttered websites. Thus, we’ve developed a transformative solution using GenAI. Our browser extension: ClearView Assist enhances web accessibility by decluttering interfaces. By leveraging voice commands, users can articulate their browsing objectives, prompting ClearView Assist to dynamically filter out irrelevant page elements while highlighting content crucial to the user's input. This significantly reduces the time and effort required by screen readers to locate specific details and exemplifies a proactive approach to inclusive design, promoting digital equity and empowering individuals with diverse visual needs with efficient web navigation.

Mass Delivery Integration for DoorDash

Our project tackles the challenges of high food delivery costs, limited meal options, and inefficient deliveries for university students on campus. Integrating a "Mass Delivery" feature into the existing DoorDash app enables students to participate in group orders at designated campus food lockers, significantly reducing the cost per meal and delivery times. Our results from testing with students demonstrated both cost savings and increased convenience. This project makes a significant difference in the lives of students by providing them with a more affordable and efficient way to access meals, allowing an increased focus on studies and less on meal logistics.

OpenIndex OCR

Because of the rarity of their collections, archives are notoriously inaccessible. For most of their history they were reserved for curators and researchers. But history should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or geography. Digital technologies are the best way to do this, but their application takes a level of funding that is not always available to archives. The purpose of this project is to add an open source tool that libraries and archives can use in the process of creating digital collections. It turns digital scans into searchable documents, allowing for ease of browsing.

Seattle Health Information Management (SHIMA) Website

Our team developed a new website, sponsored by the non-profit organization, Seattle Health Information Management Association (SHIMA). This rebrand provides SHIMA the chance to offer new services, expand community outreach, and establish credibility amongst health informatics students and professionals, something they previously struggled with due to their outdated and disorganized website. We built the website from scratch utilizing React.js and Node.js, tailoring our tech stack with consideration to our client's low budget. We utilized free APIs and low-cost software tools, discussing the best options with SHIMA along the development journey, making for a heavily client-oriented project.
