Joan Maybank

Joan has been working with the Edmonds School District as an Elementary Library Information Specialist since 2004, and now works at Lynnwood High School.
Nicholas Netzel

Nic moved from the Baltimore area to Portland, Oregon, just over a year ago. He dabbled with changing careers to web design/development, but got a job as the Librarian at Central Catholic High School in Portland.
Carmen Oveissi Field

A Principal in Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP in New York City, Carmen was recently appointed as the Chief Technology Officer for Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, also in New York City.
She lives in New Jersey with her husband and two young daughters.
Tom Rhoades
MLIS, 2004
After spending time working in Canada, Tom moved back to the U.S. and now works in Silicon Valley at Guidewire Software as a Senior Curriculum Developer, writing training materials as well as building training environment and hands-on exercises. He's worked in the software/tech industry since graduation, and highly recommends the training and technology education field for MLIS and MSIM graduates.
Danielle Rowland

Danielle was promoted to Associate Librarian at the UW Bothell & Cascadia Campus Library in 2016. She is currently the American & Ethnic Studies Librarian, coordinating librarian instruction in the library's First Year & Pre-major Program, and also serves as the Assistant Head of Teaching & Learning.
Robin Smith

Robin is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft and the product owner for the Microsoft Sustainability Calculator, which calculates a customer's cloud carbon footprint and carbon savings from using Azure. When customers move from on-prem IT infrastructure to Azure, they reduce their carbon emissions by over 70%. The tool provides the data, calculations, and platform for Microsoft's customers to join it on its sustainability journey. Jason Tabert

Jason is the Website Optimization Manager at Tableau Software. Tableau helps people see and understand their data. Jason owns the web analytics and testing platform and focuses on driving increased customer engagement and lead generation. His prior experience ranges from working with local non-profits to consulting for Fortune 500 companies.
Sandy Zell
MLIS, 2004
Sandy was the Creator and Project Manager of the “We Share A Story: An International Art/Literacy Connection” (WSAS) program from 2002 until the project concluded in 2013. Sandy started WSAS while with the Bellingham Sister Cities Association in 2002 as a vehicle to connect Bellingham schools to K-6 librarians, teachers, and students around the world the opportunity. At its peak, schools in 23 countries participated in integrated arts experiences, connecting and sharing information, stories, and artwork.
Kawanna Bright

In 2025, Kawanna earned tenure and promotion to associate professor at East Carolina University. She was to be awarded the ALISE Excellence in Teaching Award (Senior Faculty) at the 2025 ALISE Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
Elaine Chu

As of 2017, Elaine was living in Los Angeles and working as the Director of Taxonomy at a startup called Tradesy — where women can buy and sell fashion online.
