Nathan Freier
PhD, 2007
Nathan has been at Microsoft since 2010. He's worked on a number of projects, most recently a new Office presentation app, Sway. The preview version is free and available at http://sway.com.
Sue Gemmell
MSIM, 2007
Sue is building and supporting a Yammer network of communities for UNICEF.org, to help 15,000 colleagues in 190 countries promote the rights and well-being of children. Yammer is a freemium enterprise social networking service used for private communication within organizations.
In addition to education, medical, sanitation, operations and hundreds of other groups, Sue recently started a community for UNICEF's professional drivers. The group now has 700+ members in 56 countries and continues to grow.
As a consultant, she works flexible hours at home in Portland and visit New York for face-to-face meetings. I have many fond memories of MSIM and my cohort.
Ivy Hammond

Ivy is working as adjunct faculty for Brigham Young University-Idaho. She is teaching an introduction Library Research Skills course.
Laura Horne-Popp

Laura became Assistant Dean of Library Services in the James C. Kirkpatrick Library at the University of Central Missouri in July 2016.
Benjamin Jackson

In 2011, Ben joined Juniper Networks in Sunnyvale, CA, as Vice President of Information Experience. Ben leads a multi-disciplined information organization with company-wide accountability for technical documentation, localization, content authoring and publishing tool development (PM/Dev/Test) and engineering training.
Patricia Katopol

As of 2024 Patricia was retired and moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her grandchildren.
Susan Michl

Susan has been a Senior Associate with Point B since 2012. Point B is an employee-owned management consulting firm that specializes in helping clients execute their strategic initiatives and deliver business results that create transformational change and competitive advantage.
Martin Nash

In 2015, Martin started work as an iOS Developer at REI Previously he worked for Linea Photosharing, Shutterfly, and spent five years as an English teacher in Japan. Martin also teaches a series of courses for the UW's PCE iOS & Mac Application Development certificate program.
Brian Reyes

Brian was employee No. 1 and product designer (2007-2013) for Seattle Startup PitchBook, which was awarded the Geekwire Deal of the Year for its acquisition by MorningStar for $225 million. PitchBook recently also showed up unexpectedly in an episode of "Silicon Valley."
Brian also built and launched The Shop website, a car and motorcycle enthusiast club known as "a country club for gearheads." Located in SoDo, the Shop features state-of-the-art tools, lifts, wash bays, people on staff to teach you how to restore cars, a state of the art VR simulator, and a new Ethan Stowell Restaurant called Derby,.
Brian has recently been asked to Community Manager and Chair of the Executive Committee for a new upcoming non-profit called IncludeGlobal founded by Jessica Eggert.
Currently, Brian works at Splunk as a UX & inclusion designer (which means a UX designer with an additional interest/focus on diversity and inclusion).
Brendan Ribera

Brendan creates tech startups in Seattle at Madrona Venture Labs. Previously, he founded PaperKarma (acquired in 2013).
