Joel Turner

Joel is working as a technical adviser for media and information literacy at IREX, a global development non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. He is part of a team that is testing a citizen media literacy skills-building approach called Learn to Discern. The team first tested Learn to Discern in Ukraine, training librarians in citizen media literacy concepts. Joel is currently testing adaptations of Learn to Discern in Indonesia (online-only messaging) and in Arizona (training rural and tribal librarians).

In 2021, Andrew reported working on a useable and secure solution to solve the problems associated with using passwords on the internet: "I am a Senior Product Manager at Trusona, and leading 12 engineers on product strategy around our platform, which has a component of mobile, front end, back end and partner with security and UX to delight our customers. We offer both a mobile app and browser native solution to authentication that doesn't require the use of passwords and instead uses your phones built-in security capabilities. I love the job and company and am definitely using my Informatics background as well as a decade of experience working with customers in various capacities."
