Informatics Registration Policies
General Informatics Registration Policy
Registration will be accessible to students as follows:
Period 1 Registration
- 100- and 200-level INFO courses are open to all UW undergraduates (Exception: INFO 290 is only available to INFO majors)
- 300- and 400-level INFO courses are open to current INFO majors only.
Period 2 Registration
Autumn and Winter Quarter Registration
- 100- and 200-level INFO courses are open to all UW undergraduates (Exception: INFO 290 is only available to INFO majors)
- During the first week of Period 2, 300- and 400-level INFO courses are open to current INFO majors and newly admitted INFO majors only.
- Starting the second week of Period 2, 300- and 400-level INFO courses are open to all UW undergraduates (Exception: Capstone is only available to INFO majors)
Spring Quarter Registration

All INFO courses are open to all UW undergraduates.
Period 3 Registration
- All INFO courses are open to all UW students, including graduate students.
- All UW courses become add code restricted for the week following Period III Registration. Please note that not all courses will allow students to join beginning the second week of the quarter.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Informatics does not distribute add codes to overenroll classes at any time. If a course is full, you will need to wait for a spot to become available.
- Students with registration priority from DRS, veterans, or graduating senior status still need to abide by the INFO major-only registration restrictions.
- Informatics minors do not get any registration priority for INFO courses.
- Summer quarter does not have any INFO-major only restrictions.
