Katrin Burkart, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Metrics Sciences at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. In this role, she works on the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) project, conducting research on environmental risks and and climate change. Before coming to the University of Washington, Dr. Burkart was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York. She holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin, Germany. At the iSchool, Dr. Burkart teaches Population Health Informatics and feels privileged to train the next generation of Health and Information experts.
